GRANIERI (the village) Granieri Sin dall’epoca normanna è sempre stato un feudo, facente parte della baronia di Fetanasimo (l’attuale Santo Pietro). Quando nel 1869 fuacquistato dal cav. Antonino Silvestri fu edificata una masseria attorno alla quale in seguito si costituirà il centro abitato, masolo nel 1925 il piccolo borgo, oggi frazione di Caltagirone,assumerà un assetto urbanistico compatto con le infrastrutture e iservizi necessari. L’operoso borgo agricolo, compreso in un territorio dal quale provengono eccellenti prodotti quali l’Uva datavola IGP di Mazzarrone e Granieri, il vino Cerasuolo di VittoriaDOCG, l’Olio di oliva DOP Monti Iblei e l’Arancia rossa di Sicilia IGP, è rinomato per le sue pregiate uve e pesche.Particolarmente sentita è la festa del patrono SanGiovanni Battista (29 agosto), caratterizzata dalla partecipazione di figuranti in costumi d`epoca e che richiamafedeli da tutte le zone limitrofe. inoltre e due eventi per eccellenza che parlano del nostro territorio: Sapuri ri `na vota & Sagra dell`uva. Granieri Since Normans’era, Granieri had always been a feud of the Barony of Fetanasimo (actually Santo Pietro), till 1869 when the feud wasbought by the cav. Antonino Silvestri, who built a manor farm whichwas surrounded in the course of the time by houses. Only in 1925 the little village, today suburb of Caltagirone, became a town withinfrastructures and necessary services. The hard-working agriculturalvillage, part of a territory which produces excellent products as theGrapes to Eat IGPof Mazzarrone and Granieri,the Cerasuolo of VittoriaDOCG wine, the olive oil DOP Monti Iblei and the Red Orange of SicilyIGP, is well-known for its fine grapes and peaches. Deeply felt inthe village it is San Giovanni Battista’s Day (29thAugust),when there is a village-celebration with the participation ofpeople dressed with ancient suits and devoted people from all the surroundings. and also two events for excellence that speak of our land: Sapuri re `na vote & Wine Festival table.
